Gallery Artists Hanging at the de Young!
Attesting to the excellent quality of art and artists at the Valley Art Gallery, works by six of our artists have been selected hang in the de Young Open, a community art exhibit in support of Bay Area artists. The show attracted more than 11,000 entries, which were juried by a panel of four museum curators and three noted Bay Area artists. Thomas Campbell, de Young Director and CEO, said the general theme of the show, “On the Edge,” invited expression of the “resilience of the human spirit and the power of art to transcend adversity.” Our Valley Art Gallery participants, Deborah Benioff Friedman, Judith Feins, Kathleen Gadway, Juanita Hagberg, Jody Mattison and Eileen Moderbacher were thrilled to be included the event, noting acceptance in the Open show one of the most exciting events of their life and expressing their appreciation of the de Young for the unusual opportunity for local artists to exhibit in
