Ruth, a native Californian, is a lifelong resident of the San Francisco Bay Area and an artist since childhood. For more than forty years she has concentrated on perfecting her skills with pastels, specializing in portraiture, figure and still life paintings.

Mostly self-taught, she has studied with a number of distinguished pastelists and at the San Francisco Academy of Art. Her work has won over 100 awards in numerous juried shows throughout the nation and is held in many private and some corporate collections.

She has earned signature status in the Society of Western Artists, Pastel Society of America, Degas Pastel Society and is a Distinguished Pastelist with the Pastel Society of the West Coast. Recently she earned a Master Circle Gold Medallion Award from the International Association of Pastel Societies.

You will find her work featured in the North Light Book “A Painter’s Guide to Design and Composition and has had her work published in American Artist, Pastel Journal and International Artists magazines.
