Valley Art has sponsored and organized the first Walnut Creek “Paint Out,” as part of this year’s City of Walnut Creek Centennial celebrations. Participating artists were selected by well-known plein air painter Bryan Mark Taylor. Twenty seven painters created over 100 works, which will first be exhibited at the annual Fourth of July band concert and ice cream social in downtown Civic Park, and then on display in our gallery from July 8-26, 2014.
This event has been extended to August 7.
The Valley Art Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of our new show, Memory Gardens, which runs from May 20 - July 3, 2014. This exhibit features the distinctive paintings of Bea Guttman, whose colorful, lyrical, abstract paintings evoke memories of the gardens and landscapes that inspired them.
Reception: Friday, May 23, 2014 | 5-7 PM
The vernal equinox is upon us, and with it the fresh colors of spring! Come celebrate with us as our member artists exhibit their interpretations of the freshness, vibrancy, and intensity of spring in Northern California! There’s also a free reception to view the artwork and meet the artists, Saturday, March 29, from 3-5 PM.
The Valley Art Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of our new show, Mindscapes, which runs from January 25 through March 1, 2014. This exhibit features the distinctive paintings of Lu Beury, whose large, colorful abstract paintings evoke the natural landscapes that inspired them. By layering paints, sand, and gesso, along with intertwining metallic forms with random streaks and shapes, Beury captures the essence of textures and the patinas of objects such as bark, chipped paint, and rusted iron. The final works exude excitement and energy, and generate a joyous response.
Reception: Saturday, January 25, 2014 | 3-5 PM
