There is something unattainable about animals because they live in a different sensory world than us. They are familiar, yet mysterious - this is what compels me to paint them. The creatures and plants among us are all gifted in different ways, and all of them are important.

The details, and sometimes lack of details, can infer a magical complexity in visual art. I'm inspired by abstract realism, and how smearing edges evokes intrigue. I’m often drawn to art that captures the essence of a subject. The effort of reducing, of "less is more," gives us all a more remarkable viewing experience.

I'm a painter living in the Bay Area in California. I studied at Washington University in St. Louis with an emphasis on visual communication. After college, I studied character animation and worked as a character animator on feature films for Blue Sky, DreamWorks, and Pixar.

Since having children, my priorities have shifted, and my main passion and artistic outlet has been painting with oils.

Please enjoy my work!
