For me, the act of creating is both a process of self-exploration and a means of connecting with others on a deeper emotional level

I work nonobjectively and abstractly, beginning each painting with an experience, mood, or inner state that I seek to express rather than depict. My process is intuitive and exploratory, informed by principles articulated by Richard Diebenkorn: to tolerate chaos and to attempt what is not certain. Painting from an expressive idea allows for continual evaluation, encourages exploration, and often leads to unexpected possibilities. I work in oil, acrylic, collage, drawing, mark making, ink, and combinations thereof, allowing each to serve the evolving needs of the work.

I intentionally preserve a sense of ambiguity, inviting the viewer’s imagination to play an active role. I care deeply about my subjects and remain emotionally connected to the work throughout the process. When the elements of a painting come together and successfully communicate my intention—creating a moment of connection with the viewer—it is profoundly rewarding.

I hope my paintings evoke feeling, inspire curiosity, awaken memories, or offer moments of delight through their unfolding visual narratives.
