My subject matter is Central California, where there is a wealth of source material from the ocean, wine country, rolling hills, the urban setting of San Francisco, and the high Sierra. While I still do some still lifes, most of my paintings are landscapes. I like to show the brushwork or "structure" of the painting, and, rather than painting a subject as it is, I paint it as I would like it to be. I do some plein air painting, but mostly I work in my studio in Los Gatos, California, where I have lived for many years.
