Donna Brown is a southern California transplant and has spent nearly forty years in the San Francisco Bay area, raising a family and enjoying life.
Although schooled as a scientist, Donna has always been an artist. She has worked in ceramics and metal fabrication before discovering printmaking in 2014. From that point on printmaking has been her passion.
The entire procedure from mental interpretation of the image, to carving the plate, inking the plate, and printing the image, all allows for the subtle variations that add to the mystery of the process that she so much enjoys.
Donna’s artwork is generally figurative and focuses on the family and the people in her life that inspire her. Her artwork attempts to capture the joy of special moments frozen in time. Donna is currently enjoying her time as an artist in residence at Kala Art Institute, and she is a member of the California Society of Printmakers.
