Art has always been a part of my life. In college I studied interior design. Left to raise a family of five, returning often to study art. Taking classes where ever I could find them in watercolor, china painting, pen and ink and gardening to name a few. The art of fine needlework became an outlet about forty years ago. I still find it a fascinating study of people and places. I am a member of the National Embroidery Guild and the Bay Area Sampler Guild.
Several years ago I discovered pastel painting. The vibrant colors and the tactile feel provides a medium that I find very satisfying. My inspiration comes from my travels and the beauty of our area. Through photos and sketches ideas form to provide me with a way to express my views of nature and perhaps bring one along to find the joy and peace that I feel.
Currently I paint regularly with a group of talented artists who inspire and encourage me. I belong to the Danville Artists’ Society and have exhibited with them. I have studied pastel painting under Debbie Wardrope. All of these people have helped me look at the world more closely to see the beauty that is every where.
